About

I’m a creative storyteller, travel editor and writer, and content marketer based on the border of the Berkshires and Hudson Valley. Learn more about what I do.

Stories sell—even more so than products, services, and ideas. That’s why I’m in the business of creating unique stories, and why my clients trust me to communicate theirs to the world.

I’m based on the borders of the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts and the Hudson Valley, close to Troy and Albany, New York, which means I live in the best of all worlds. I’m a freelance writer and editor for businesses, service providers, entrepreneurs, magazine and book publishers, and authors who prefer big ideas to little details. I’m a skilled travel writer and journalist, and have published over 100 articles and 1,000 blog posts. I’ve served as the developmental editor, copyeditor, or proofreader on more than 350 books and dozens of magazines.

As a freelance writer and editor, I craft travel features and marketing content, plus creative marketing, advertising, PR, and Web copy—including SEO writing, content marketing, and social media content and strategy—for brands both large and small. And as an editor, I specialize in helping authors who aren’t professional writers take their stories from concept to printed book, no matter what their field of expertise. I also work as an author coach, helping book authors hone their ideas and share their stories with the world.

I write. I edit. I strategize. I even teach seminars and classes on a variety of writing and editing topics.

about Robin Catalano

“Robin Catalano is a brilliant copywriter. She captured the heart and voice of my brand on the first try and delivered something way beyond my expectations. I can’t imagine my business without her.”

—Kate Perna, founder, Inner Beauty Effects

“Robin was my instructor for Writing for Blogs and Social Media at The Arts Center in Troy, NY. Robin’s class was engaging, interactive, relevant, and organized. That combined with her social media prowess, responsiveness, and wit, resulted in an excellent course and direct application of information. One of my clients was so impressed with the positive growth I implemented, that they asked me to manage another one of their businesses (social media). Thank you, Robin!”

—Kristen Corbisiero, freelance editor & project manager

“Working with Robin as a book editor was the perfect author-editor relationship. She was respectful of my style yet never let a misplaced form of punctuation nor a run-on sentence get by her eagle eyes. And her sharp skills were softened by a deliciously wry wit. I know she made my books easier to read and staved off grammar police.”

“I love working with Robin. Writing a book is such a vulnerable experience and her skill, insight, and guidance were so welcome at the end of the out pouring of my soul! I was able to accept all of her changes, creating better flow for my book, and also, expand where her comments prompted me. I especially appreciated her attention to detail in the content. I look forward to working with her again and again and again!
