As the communications manager for the New York State Berry Growers Association, I work on a variety of print and digital marketing projects for the organization, including email copywriting. The Berry Growers put out a monthly e-newsletter, just a few days in advance of when the print newsletter arrives in mailboxes, as well as specialty e-newseltters for events and pest and weather alerts.
For their summer Berry Production Workshop, an educational seminar for farmers and other agricultural professionals, we created a series of 5 emails to entice member growers to attend and learn more about spotted wing drosophila, an invasive pest that has been devastating berry crops in the US since 2012. The first three e-mails, including the powerful introductory email above left, highlighted why growers would want to attend the workshop, and the problems it would help them solve on their own farms. The final email, above right, was a thank-you to both our sponsors at Cornell University and our attendees for making the workshop such a success.
