Over the course of my career, I’ve worked as a journalist, a copywriter, a freelance book writer, and an editor for a variety of media. When Storey Books, located in my home base of the Berkshires (roughly halfway between Boston and Albany, New York), commissioned me to write this book on horse health care, I jumped at the chance to be part of their successful Barn Guide line, and to write on a topic I had 20-plus years of firsthand knowledge about.
The book features a unique spiral-bound, hanging format that allows readers to post it in the barn or stall while treating their horses hands-on. It’s a prime example of step-by-step how-to or DIY text written for a mainstream audience.
