The majority of my story ideas come to me while I’m out talking to people, whether on my travels or in my local community. This article, on the Berkshire Writers Haven, a unique retreat for scribes, is one of them.

As part of the research process, I participated in some hypnosis sessions with Berkshire Writers Haven cofounder Lisa Avnet. Far from being the woo-woo experience I imagined, it was both grounding and creativity opening. The result was a profile on the retreat center, written almost entirely via dictation.
