I love houses. I love them for their beauty, their messiness, their symbolism, and the feeling of safety and sanctuary they impart. I love looking at real estate listings online, whether the house is in my budget or in the Keep Dreaming league. And I especially love being a real estate copywriter, and creating sites for businesses like Jan Perry Realty.
To me, real estate agents aren’t just friendly faces who help you buy or sell a house. They’re also most people’s introduction to a new area, and consummate connectors within a community. The buyer’s and seller’s agents at Jan Perry are the epitome of this model: they understand that buying or selling a house is often a huge milestone, with all the emotional baggage that comes with it. They’re more interested in forging relationships and making sure you can find the perfect person to paint your nursery or plan your landscape design than in making a sale.
When I began my writing career, I didn’t set out to be a real estate copywriter. But by virtue of having worked with several agencies, I’ve fallen into it in the best possible way. Writing for real estate websites will never get old for me, and I hope I never lose the sense of wonder and possibility that a new house or property conjures.
